The Effect of Value Clarification Training(VCT) on Nurses¡¯ Professional Self-concept, Job motivation and Job satisfaction

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of value clarification trsining(VCT) on hospital employed nurses` professional self-concept, job motivation and job satisfaction, from which the result may be provided as a baseline data for improving the effectiveness of hospital organization and quality of nursing care. The sample consisted 68 nurses employed in one university in Daegu city. Of which two groups of 15 nurses volunteered for this study were assigned experimental program which was provided once in a week for 8 weeks and each program took between one and half hours and two hours. The final sample of experimental group consisted 23 nurses, excluding 7 nurses wko did not attend to all the program sessions. Randomization was used to assign 38 nurses who did not participate in VCT to control group. Research variables for this study were nurses` professional self-concept, job motivation and job satisfaction, and hypothesis of this study was tested by ANCOVA.

The result of this study revealed that there were no significant difference between experimental group and control group with regard to three dependent variable. This study suggested that replication of VCT would be worthwhile for nurses, even though there were no significant effect on nurses` professional self-concept, job motivation and job satisfaction.
